Gingerbread House by birdielover Gingerbread House by birdielover
Ahhh, now this piece took hours to make! In the end, it was worth it. As you can see, the gingerbread house is in the process of being assembled and decorated. There are four jars of peppermints, spearmints (tipped on its side), gumdrops, and rainbow dots. Rainbow candy canes and an icing bag also also rest beside everything else. All handcrafted from polymer clay by me in 1/12 scale.

I really encourage you to visit this [link] to view more close-ups of everything on the board! Enjoy.

I absolutely love this! It reminds me of how every December, my friends and I help my friend's aunt, who makes homemade gingerbread houses and sells them every year. We go to help her prepare the bags of candy and stuff. :) This really takes me back. :gummybear:

Works like this are the reason I love miniatures. Ah the joys of polymer clay. I wish I could make something this cute.
Lovely photo angle and positioning of the various props. Did you make the peppermints and candies? How did you get that pattern? By putting thin strips of red on a white clay log and rolling it smooth?
The mini gingerbread house is adorable. And now I've got a sudden craving for cookies and milk. Nicely done! ^_0

Thank you very much! Yes, I made all of the peppermints and candies.. very tedious details! I made the peppermints by designing a cane (I'm sure you've probably heard of canes before). I created the peppermint cane the way I wanted it and then squeezed (and rolled it to make it smooth and round) it until it was reduced to 1/12 scale. Hope that was clear and answers your question! There might be videos on YouTube on how to make peppermint canes.. not sure though.

How detailed! I'm gonna enter the contest too and your entry is definitely good competition. So, great job!

I'm not precisely sure where this extends to outside of my state (FL), but Michael's is having a big sale on their polymer clay.
Some of them are $0.99 and others are even $0.69 (FIMO, Scupley III, Premo, Craftsmart). Just figured I'd share. :]

You must have been relieved and so proud when you were done! Amazing! Breathtaking! Those little bottles are too cute! Everything is so realistic! Where did you find bottles so tiny??? I've never seen them before. I've been wanting to buy some in the back of my mind for the longest time!!

I'm very flattered by your comment! Thank you so much. :)

I purchase my "spice bottles" from my local craft store... but I think they can be purchased online. Ebay might possibly sell them too. But I'd try the miniature section of your local craft store first because it's most likely cheaper that way!
